EMILIANO GODOY AND THE ENIGMA WITHIN

Designing and innovation goes hand in hand and perhaps Emiliano Godoy, the Mexico based industrial designer knows it best. His designs make us think and renew the production and consumption structures as he brings along a new wave in the designing industry. He paves the way to change the  unsustainable patterns of product development into sustainable innovation process.

A professional Industrial designer from Pratt Institute’s graduate program (New York, 2004), with a BA degree in industrial design from Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City, 1997) and furniture design studies from the Danish Design School (2003), Emiliano Godoy  runs his own design firm Godoylab. He considers his laboratory as a place for practice, observation and testing and invites all to visit there as he believes only together we can device solutions that are market appropriate, manufacturing adequate, technologically advanced, environmentally responsible, aesthetically innovative and future friendly.

He terms design as an intellectual activity that defines objects, images and spaces, socially responsible, environmentally sustainable, symbolically pertinent, functionally effective and economically viable.  To him, object is an active character that interacts with all the social, economic and environmental mechanisms of culture. Thus, designs are not paralyzed in time and are isolated from their surroundings and independent from interpretations.
