IMC recently launched its social media profile, @DesignOnHPMKT on Instagram, soon-to-be rolled out across IMC's other social sharing platforms. Attendees of High Point Market can connect with top designers and bloggers who will be sharing their inspirations each day, including their favorite showrooms, products, social events and much more. Friday's @DesignOnHPMKT Instagram take-over starts with guest posts from Gretchen Aubuchon (Fashion + Décor) and Matthew Frederick (M. Frederick Interiors). Saturday's @DesignOnHPMKT feed will feature Corey Damen Jenkins (DWV Design with Vision), Christian May (Maison 21) and Dwayne Clark (Century Furniture). Surya to Debut Bedding Line At High Point Market

Surya, rug and home accessories manufacturer, will unveil a new bedding line at the company’s flagship showroom, Showplace 4100, during the Spring 2014 High Point Market. The new line has been designed to coordinate seamlessly with Surya’s rugs, pillows and other accessories, making it easy to create a complete look that flows seamlessly throughout the home environment.

Building upon the success of the Florence Broadhurst line of rugs and pillows, the initial bedding collection will feature several of the iconic designer’s well-loved patterns, including Japanese-inspired floral, Kabuki fan and crane motifs. Each design will be offered in two colorway combinations and will be available as a duvet set with two standard pillow shams in twin, double, queen and king sizes.

“We have been hearing from our customers for a while now that our products are being used within the bedroom setting,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “At the same time, it’s clear that consumers are no longer looking just to decorate one or two rooms within their homes, but instead want to connect multiple rooms to create a harmonious feeling throughout. Constructed of luxe 330-thread count cotton sateen, the line will also include matching Euro shams and 18-inch pillows, which can be purchased separately. Further completing the look, Surya is launching a complementary collection of Florence Broadhurst rugs. Available in multiple colorways, the rugs include hand tufted constructions crafted of wool with viscose accents, and plush, hand loomed designs featuring high/low pile for an all-over dimensional effect.

IKEA Announces Latest PS collection, themed "On the Move"

IKEA has recently announced the launch of its latest IKEA PS collection, themed "On the Move," created specifically for the young, urban crowd living in smaller spaces. Now in its eighth iteration, the new PS collection offers a range of pieces for every room in the home, with lightweight materials, bright colors and multifunctional design woven throughout. Pieces of the collection ? which range from seating to dishes, lighting to plant stands, and tables to storage units , are designed for flexibility and movability in order to adapt to the evolving needs of urban dwellers looking to live more simply and do more in the space they have.

The collection was inspired by homes and homeowners  that are in constant motion. According to a global survey, nearly 60 percent of American city dwellers, aged 18-29, desire to move within the next two years.

The IKEA PS 2014 collection focuses on the young urban residents that have ever-fluctuating living situations, whether it's where they live or with whom they share a space," said Janice Simonsen, Design Spokesperson, IKEA U.S. This line brings flexibility to everyone by combining form, function, quality, sustainability and an accessible price point."

IKEA worked with young-minded designers from all over the world to bring the beautiful and functional collection to life. Some examples of how the creators of the IKEA PS 2014 collection used smart design to create smart solutions.

"Globally, we found that young people are looking to use every inch of their home effectively," says Peter Klinkert, Head of Special Collections for IKEA of Sweden. "With IKEA PS 2014, we worked to create pieces that keep multifunction and small space living at the core."

IKEA PS (meaning Post Scriptum) is the design statement, first launched in 1995, which puts focus on cutting edge modern Scandinavian furniture design without losing sight of what makes IKEA unique,  affordable, quality design for the many people. IKEA launches a new PS line approximately every three years.

The PS 2014 collection will be available starting in April at IKEA stores nationwide.

Surya Extends Support to Veteran Pain Program

Surya supports the Veteran Pain Program, an initiative of Minnesota-based BFW Charities that provides medical grants to military veterans to help them access the treatment necessary to relieve chronic pain and move on to lead productive lives. Through a generous financial contribution to the program’s “Helping 100 Veterans in 100 Days” initiative, Surya will enable three veterans to receive therapeutic treatment for three months.

“Our goal is to help veterans return to their daily routines as quickly and healthy as possible, using the latest medical technologies and best practices,” said Doug Huseby, founder of BFW Charities and owner of Becker Furniture World. “In many cases, we’ve seen veterans who had resigned themselves to a life of discomfort emerge from treatment with significantly reduced pain and renewed hope for the future. We are grateful to Surya for its commitment to help those who have dutifully served our nation live the best lives possible.”

Veterans who meet the program’s requirements are awarded a grant that can be used for treatment at The Ultimate Wellness Center locations in Becker or Minnetonka, Minn. A mobile unit has recently been added, giving veterans without transportation the opportunity to take advantage of the program. To date, the Veteran Pain Program has provided treatment to more than 250 Minnesota veterans with service-related disabilities, and Huseby hopes to expand the initiative nationwide.

The International Sleep Products Association Helps Needy Children

The International Sleep Products Association’s March EXPO in New Orleans promises to be a pajama party.  To thank its host city, the International Sleep Products Association (ISPA) and its members are collecting new pajamas and books to donate to the New Orleans Pajama Program.

Ryan Trainer, ISPA president stated, “During EXPO held on March 26-29, 2014, ISPA encourages attendees to contribute new books, pajamas [all sizes infant to 18 years old] or cash to help needy children get a good night’s sleep. Donation bins will be located on-site. All donations and proceeds will benefit the New Orleans Chapter of the Pajama Program.”

The non-profit Pajama Program provides new pajamas and books to children, many of whom are waiting to be adopted. These children live in various situations, including group homes, shelters and temporary housing facilities. Most have never enjoyed the simple comfort of having a mother or father tuck them in at bedtime with warm, clean pajamas and a bedtime story.

Genevieve Piturro, founder, Pajama Program has stated, “At Pajama Program we believe that a loving and comforting bedtime routine makes a huge difference for any child, but for some children this is not always possible, which is why we are committed to providing children in need with new comfy pajamas and a new book of their very own.  We are grateful to ISPA’s support of Pajama Program and its help in helping to make sure that all children have a good night’s sleep.”

Steelcase Invests Renewable Energy

Steelcase Inc. will be investing renewable energy to 100% of its global electricity consumption. After this investment Steelcase has become the 15th largest 100% renewable energy purchaser in the United States according to the U.S. EPA’s Green Power Partnership. It reflects the company’s larger energy strategy which has, to date, resulted in a 60% reduction in energy use since the company began tracking its consumption in 2001.

Steelcase has chosen to purchase its renewable energy credits (RECs) from a portfolio that includes newer projects and non-emitting sources like wind and hydroelectric energy in North America and Europe. Steelcase is the first major company in its industry to purchase non-emitting renewable energy equivalent to 100 percent of its global electricity consumption.

President and CEO of Steelcase Inc, Jim Keane commented, “Our commitment to renewable energy is reflective of our passion for innovation and the environment. We’re helping grow an industry that will ultimately benefit the entire world. But as a reflection of our company values, we maintain a sense of urgency in limiting our use of fossil fuels. Steelcase remains focused on identifying innovative ways to build the energy efficiency of our operations, to reduce the embodied energy of our products, and to help our customers optimize their own real estate and energy use.”

In an effort to expand positive impact, Steelcase has created a one-of-a-kind program that will encourage the company’s suppliers to purchase clean RECs from new wind energy facilities that came online in 2011 or later. Those partners choosing to participate will benefit from Steelcase’s volume discount pricing.

EZMOD is Launching a New Promotion This Month for Shoppers

EZMOD is launching a new promotion entitled “Deals of the Week,” as a special thank you to fans and customers for five years of faithful loyal support.

Every Monday shoppers can find what products EZMOD has chosen to slash prices off that week. Each “Deal” will contain its own individual percentage discount. Percentages will range on a weekly basis. Once EZMOD has removed the red discount icon from the top right hand corner of the product image, then that product is no longer a “Deal of the Week”
The new special is the latest addition to the list of methods EZMOD offers shoppers to save. The “Deals of the Week” special is compatible with their “EZ” coupons.

The “EZ” coupons codes can be found under the “discount” tab of their homepage.
The code allows shoppers to save an additional $50 on any purchase totaling $600 or more, and $100 on purchases of $1,000.
EZMOD’s physical location will be relocated in April to a new location that will give contemporary furniture store enthusiasts a chance to visit their showroom and view certain items.

The new location will be in the City of Industry. The expansion gives EZMOD the capability to hold a larger inventory and fill high quantity orders.

NAHFA Announces 2014 High Point Market Seminars

The North American Home Furnishings Association (NAHFA) has announced its schedule for the 2014 High Point Market Seminars, April 5-8, 2014. The NAHFA educational seminars, which are free to market-attendees, are held in the Retailer Resource Center (RRC), 1st Floor of Plaza Suites, 222 South Main St.

“This Market we’ve added two government relations focused seminars,” said Sharron Bradley, NAHFA’s CEO. “The Association’s lobbyist will discuss the issues that we’re monitoring for our members and the industry, and we will have an informative seminar on the Affordable Care Act that will provide critical information on the Act’s impact on both large and small businesses.”

The NAHFA hosts seminars during both Las Vegas and High Point Markets in the RRC—a place designed to give retailers access to information, vendors, workshops, and speakers that can help improve and grow their businesses. Sessions topics include everything from sales and sales management to social media, operations, government relations, promotions, technology, and more.
