THE VERY OWN STYLE OF MOVELSUL BRASIL

The leading fair of the furniture sector in Latin America, Movelsul Brasil, broke away from some paradigms in its 18th edition, with the help of to two major changes that have produced results beyond expectations: the segmentation of exhibitors by product type and its positioning as the first furniture fair intended for the consumer market of the new Brazilian middle class.

From March 26-30, 2012, 38,148,000 visitors attended the show at Parque de Eventos in Bento Gonçalves (RS), including retailers, importers, sales representatives, students , designers and architects. The amount of deals closed with the 327 exhibitors is expected to reach $ 360 million over the next 12 months - 10% more than the initial estimate, due to the reduction on the tax on manufactured products (IPI) furniture, laminated floorings, lamps and chandeliers announced by the Federal Government and valid for 90 days.

Approved by exhibitors and retailers, the segmentation of Movelsul optimized the length of time spent on the show floor, facilitating the access of visitors to the segments of their interest. Identified by color, the exhibition categories included: office furniture, steel and iron furniture and garden furniture (including complements), furniture for kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry rooms, living and dining rooms (including complements) and chairs; upholstery and mattresses; home appliances and rugs.

The largest Buyer's Project was organized for the domestic furniture industry in a partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex/Brasil) - more than 600 business meetings were held with 30 importers from 18 countries. The initiative had a new format in 2012, featuring short meetings at the stands of the exhibitors participating in the project. The resulting business amount is expected to total $ 35 million over a twelve month period. In addition to the participants of the project, 26 other countries were represented at Movelsul Brasil, totaling 514 importers.

Salão Design, the largest and most prestigious awards for product design in Latin America, also complied with the new proposal of Movelsul Brasil. Its 16th edition encouraged the creation of products at affordable prices, with appropriate measurements for the housing of the new middle class, functionality, sustainability, and of course good design.
