FROM TRASH TO FURNITURE

Footprints of technology are electronic waste which has found its way into the interiors but with a whole new refurbished outlook. Chilean designer, Rodrigo Alonso has developed an innovating outlet which does get rid of the waste by incorporating it into creation of N+ew which is a stool, sculpture and installation enrolled into one. N+ew is the abbreviation for No More Electronic Waste and it created by filling the base for the piece with chunks of electronic waste, epoxic resin and melted aluminum.

Each piece utilizes various sorts of electronic wastes such as multi-colored cables, keyboards, motherboards, CDs, circuit boards, computer components and other e-stuff that lie unused in the trash zone. Rodrigo masses these trashes into a cubic mold and fill it with epoxy resin and melted recycled aluminum which binds the components together. The piece is further polished to attain a high-gloss finish.
